Gimana gak, saya itu bukan botanis seperti dia yang memungkinan bertahan dan menanam kentang gitu di Mars :D. Itu yang terlintas dalam benak saya saat ingin menulis Review Film The Martian ini.
Plot Film The Martian
Sebuah tim penelitian di Mars menghadapi badai yang mengharuskan mereka segera kembali ke bumi. Namun satu orang terlempar dan ditinggal karena diduga meninggal dunia. Adalah Mark Watney yang ternyata selamat dari badai dan masih hidup, seorang diri di Mars dengan persediaan terbatas untuk bertahan hidup. Bagaimana cara sang botanis ini bertahan hidup hingga dijemput agar bisa kembali ke bumi?
Cast & Crew
Bintang utama film ini adalah Matt Damon yang berperan sebagai Mark Watney. Disutradarai oleh Ridley Scott, film ini juga menampilkan sederet nama seperti Jessica Chastain sebagai Kapten Lewis, Jeff Daniels sebagai Teddy Sanders (Direktur NASA), Sean Bean sebagai Mitch Henderson. Naskah film ini ditulis oleh Drew Goddard berdasarkan buku dengan judul yang sama yang ditulis oleh Andy Weir.
Tahukah kamu kalau buku The Martian ditulis awalnya oleh Andy Weir dan dipublish di blognya secara gratis, hingga kemudian ada yang memintanya dijadikan e-book dan bisa didownload dengan harga $0,99 di Kindle.
Review Film The Martian – Saya Mungkin Akan Mati Kalau Jadi Mark
Pertama kali melihat trailer film ini saya tidak berharap banyak, tapi saat membaca review film ini di blognya Dani, agak lebih penasaran. Emang sih saya gak baca bukunya, jadi gak bisa bandingin dengan bukunya seperti yang Dani tulis ataupun dengan film luar angkasa seperti Interstellar ataupun Gravity. Cuma kata-kata kudu wajib ditonton di sana tuh bikin…
Bikin penasaran banget seperti apa sih filmnya. Bagaimana sih pengemasan oleh Ridley Scott yang sudah terkenal banget itu dan juga akting Matt Damon yang saya suka banget pas dia main Talented Mr. Ripley tahun 1999 (lama beud ya). Secara cerita, film ini juga menurut saya lumayan seru karena mengangkat kisah perjuangan hidup seorang Mark Watney yang tertinggal di Mars.
Beneran, siapa juga coba yang bisa berpikir seperti apa yang dilakukan Mark Watney. Kecenderungan manusia saat menghadapi bahaya dan rangkaian masalah adalah tidak fokus dan juga melarikan diri dari masalah itu. Tapi kalau di posisi Mark Watney, sendiri di Mars, planet yang digambarkan gersang seperti itu, mau lari ke mana?

Setidaknya itu yang saya dapatkan dari film ini, kita itu harusnya bisa seperti itu. Kalau ketemu masalah bukannya melarikan diri tapi dengan menghadapinya dan menyelesaikannya, satu demi satu. Kalau ingin diselesaikan semua sekaligus, yang ada pusing dan gak akan beres jadinya. Trust me, been there done that also.
Itu sih setidaknya yang saya dapat dari film ini, di samping apiknya pengemasan film oleh Ridley Scott. Tadinya saya berpikir akan bosan menonton film dengan durasi 141 menit bicarain soal Mark Watney, tapi ternyata gak banget. Ridley Scott itu pinter mengemas semuanya, dari scene ke scene berjalan tanpa ngerasa bingung. Dan perpindahan dari scene di Mars (yang aslinya di daerah Jordan) ke markas NASA itu gak bikin bingung.
Acting Matt Damon menurut saya sih gak sebagus yang di Mr. Ripley itu ya, tapi saya tetep suka. Mungkin saya memang agak lebih menyukai film yang dengan twist aneh seperti Gone Girl ataupun Now You See Me gitu. Kalau di film The Martian ini gak nemu twist yang gimana-gimana sih. Biasa aja.
Mungkin banyak yang mengira film ini adalah film penuh aksi. Tapi ternyata film ini adalah film drama dan cenderung komedi. Dibuat beberapa adegan lucu yang pas. Seperti ucapan-ucapan Mark saat membuat video perjuangannya sejak ditinggal di Mars. Dia beberapa kali mengatakan hal-hal lucu yang cukup membuat saya tertawa dan lupa kalau dia sedang dalam masalah.

Lah emang dia sendirian di sana. Gimana gak yang terhebat coba. Atau saat candaan antara Mark dan Martinez. Dibuat agak lucu tapi saya pribadi merasakan sesuatu yang bikin sedih. Well, filmnya memang film drama sih ya.
Secara keseluruhan film ini patut banget ditonton. Visualisasi Mars dan juga gimana cara kerja NASA serta luar angkasa patut diacungi jempol. Untuk Review Film The Martian ini saya beri 4 dari 5 bintang dari versi saya.
Di Rotten Tomatoes sendiri nilai film ini adalah 93% sedangkan di IMDB itu nilainya 8.2. Rating yang tinggi kan??? Masih gak mau nonton juga? O iya, film The Martian ini diberi PG13 – jadi diharapkan yang nonton itu umurnya 13 tahun ke atas dengan panduan dari orangtua (walau kemarin tetep saya mendapati bayi ikutan nonton ?).

Kalo buat gw the martian versi filmnya ini di tone down beberapa derajat tingkat ketegangannya. Hihihi. Tapi bukunya dengan ending ini justru jadi twist bwt gw karena dari awal udah ngarep tragedi yang oh no too bad that happened etapi malah berakhir bahagia.

kalo menurut saya the martian itu versi komedi dari serial luar angkasa. tapi dari kejenakaan the martian justru menyingkap sisi kemanusiaan orang orang NASA. orang NASA yang sejak film apollo 11, 13, hingga interstellar, digambarkan serius pool. tokoh-tokohnya seakan tanpa cela. eh, sekarang diwakili sama mark watney, dia seolah ingin ngomong: astronot juga bisa ceroboh, lucu, sedih, dan jenius sekaligus. terutama jenius bisa memanfaatkan pup di mars wkwkwk

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children.
