Ternyata eh ternyata… makanan Liberia itu dikenal dengan rasa yang spicy. Bagi saya yang penggemar rasa itu, tentunya jadi masalah. Gak bisa saya makan yang spicy seperti itu.
Baru saja saya diajak teman kantor yang asli Liberia sini untuk makan siang bersama. Sebelum-sebelumnya, saya makan siang bersama teman Indonesia yang sedang berada di Monrovia sini, entah yang baru datang dari Indonesia ataupun justru yang ingin pulang ke Indonesia.
Tapi hari ini, saya tinggal sendiri. Tak ada lagi orang Indonesia yang sedang berada di Monrovia (yang dari perusahaan yang sama ya…) akhirnya saya diajak makan oleh rekan kerja lokal di sini. Makanannya Palm Butter – jadi ayam dimasak menggunakan minyak dari kelapa sawit. Bumbunya? Seperti bumbu kari, tapi Liberian pepper (cabe)nya banyak sekali. Pedas rasanya. Ditambah kayaknya juga ada pakai lada lagi.
Sayangnya tadi saya tak berani foto. Gak enak juga foto karena rekan sedang makan.
Selain itu, ada juga makanan dari Cassava – kalau bahasa kerennya, Singkong di kita. Singkong ini ditumbuk halus kemudian diaduk dikasih air, jadi semacam mash potato gitu. Tapi agak kenyal dan lengket, saya juga tidak tahu kenapa bisa jadi seperti itu. Dan dimakan dengan makanan Palm Butter itu juga.
Rasanya cukup sekali ini saja saya makan makanan lokal seperti itu. Tapi ya siapa tahu juga sih ya. 😀

kalau dah di luar, kangen banget makanan Indo ya mba, apalagi namanya nasi padang. walaupun gak suka pedes, kalau nasi padang tetep hajar… cuma gak pake cabe ijonya aja sih saya. 😀
